WaCopy is an independent product and is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.

When you copy or export a chat, the extension reads the conversation already shown in your browser on web.whatsapp.com and builds Markdown, TXT, JSON, CSV, PDF, HTML, and optional media files on your device.

Chat messages, contacts, and media are not uploaded to WaCopy servers. Exports are saved locally (for example via your Downloads folder) only after you choose Copy or Download export.

The extension uses chrome.storage.local for preferences and license state only: preferred copy format, free-tier chat usage counters (identifiers for chats you already exported, not message bodies), license key and short-lived session token, plan and expiry, and an anonymous analytics distinct id.

Clearing the extension’s storage or uninstalling the extension removes this local data.

https://wacopy.app — license validation, license recovery, and Stripe checkout session creation when you start a paid plan. Validation sends the license key you paste; it does not include chat content.

https://us.i.posthog.com (PostHog) — product analytics events such as copy completed, free limit reached, checkout started, or license activated. Events include an anonymous distinct id and metadata like format, plan, or counts. They do not include message text, contact names, or media.

Stripe Checkout runs on Stripe’s domain after we open a checkout URL. Payment card data is handled by Stripe, not by WaCopy servers.

The marketing site and account pages may use PostHog for pageviews and product funnel events.

If you recover a license, we ask for the email address used at checkout so we can look up your Stripe customer and email your license key. We use Amazon SES to send transactional email from hi@wacopy.app.

We do not sell your personal information.

Purchases are processed by Stripe. We store no full card numbers. After payment, we derive a license key tied to your Stripe customer and may email it to you.

License checks query Stripe to confirm your subscription or lifetime purchase is still valid.

Analytics events are retained according to our PostHog project settings.

Transactional emails and Stripe records follow Stripe’s and our operational retention needs for support, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

Local extension storage lasts until you clear it or uninstall.

You can use the free tier without creating an account.

You can refuse or remove a license key from the extension at any time.

You can uninstall the extension to stop local processing and analytics from the extension.

WaCopy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of WaCopy after an update means you accept the revised policy.
